As an important inorganic colorant, iron oxide black is characterized high opacity, strong tinting strength, easy dispersibility, excellent light fastness and perfect weather resistance. It is extensively used in concrete, roofing tile, paver, stucco, masonary, paint, coating, rubber, plastic, paper and leather industries etc.

Properties

Iron oxide black is a black powder. It is an adduct of iron oxide and ferrous oxide. Generally, the content of ferrous oxide is very high and the covering power is very high. Coloring power is great, but not as good as carbon black. It has a stable effect on the sun and the atmosphere. Resistant to all alkalis, but soluble in acid and has strong magnetism. Calcined in the presence of sufficient air, it is easy to be oxidized to iron oxide red. It is mainly used for making primer and finish paint, and also used as antirust agent in construction industry. High purity is an excellent magnetic material, which is used to coat audio tapes. As an important iron pigment, iron oxide black is widely used in watercolor and ink. The main raw material of magnetic toner for copier is needle iron oxide black. In addition, iron oxide black can also be used in the production of high-grade cosmetics because of its non-toxic and pollution-free characteristics.
